Live "Hello Hurricane" DVD?; new Fiction Family tunes!

For up to date (most of the time) news and original opinions before they hit the update, follow us on Twitter!

Happy new year everybody! 2010 is here! And we at We're Awakening! have never been more excited about the next 12 months of Switchfoot. "Mess of Me" is still on its way up the charts, and we're probably going to see a spike in spins as stations settle into a more regular rotation after the holidays. We should also expect some fresh new station adds this week.

Well, here are a couple of news items and notes, to start off another year of updates:

FIRST, don't forget that TONIGHT, Switchfoot's performance will be aired on the Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson! Tune in or set your tivo/DVR's for 12:35am / 11:35pm cst. The performance should be happening at the end of the show! Andy Barron tells us it might not be the song we're expecting...

SECOND, a birdie has told me that there will be a LIVE DVD from the "Hello Hurricane" tour. The live recording of the Atlanta show we reported on back in November was apparently also filmed. I can't confirm this for sure, but I do hear that it is currently in production. Sorry, that's all I can say for now. :P

^If this is all true, I am stoked. I was hoping so desperately that Switchfoot would film one of the shows from this tour. It would only make sense to commit one of these performances to film and tape... the cohesive statement that Switchfoot worked so long and hard to make is captured best on the live stage, where the band is truly at home. So we'll keep you posted as more details come in!

THIRD, Jon Foreman tweeted that he tracked some new Fiction Family tunes last night:

- Fiction family math: tracking new tunes + dinner= sweede

Sara Watkins, Sean's sister, also tweeted that she was in the studio with the family:

- At studio w @fictionfamily. @TylerChester is Laying down tastey piano. @seancwatkins just said " hey Sara, want a weird mint?"

^I'm intrigued to see what is in store for Fiction Family this time around. Jon and Sean have their touring band members Tyler Chester and Aaron Redfield in on the recording of this one. What do you guys think? Will the project remain primarily acoustic/folksy or will it be taken in more of a jam band direction? Will the sound be a little beefier to correspond with their live show? Discuss in the comments below!

Well, that's it for news. "Mess of Me" still needs our support! Now that things are back to normal somewhat, let's refocus our efforts!
