"Mess of Me" No. 16 on Alternative; "Always" Overstock Commercial; Mars Hill Interview

For up to date (most of the time) news and original opinions before they hit the update, follow us on Twitter!

We're switching it up a little today, and doing Charts News first.

"Mess of Me" is now No. 16 on the Alternative Charts! If we check a little ways back, a certain hit single from a certain 2005 album did just as well...

That's right. "Mess of Me" has done at least as well as "Stars" did on the Modern Rock/Alternative circuit. The only thing left that "Stars" has outdone "Mess of Me" on is that the former got some Top 40 and Hot AC play, and charted on the Hot 100, albeit for a very short amount of time.

"Mess of Me" DOES already have a longer chart run than "Stars" ever had, as it is intering its 14th week on Alternative, whereas "Stars" lasted only 12 weeks most on any format.

Not to gloat over a great song in the Switchfoot catalog, but this is very, very good news, and it's all because of you guys! KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK, and request the song at every applicable radio station! (see Support Section below) This is very encouraging... I am very confident we can push this thing into the Top 10, and who knows what'll happen after that??

Next, here's the video of the "Always" Overstock commercial. It's old news I know, but just thought I'd post it anyways:

^very very very cheesy, but that's ok. At least there's even more exposure for the band.

Mars Hill Church did a fairly lengthy interview with Drew Shirley and Jerome Fontamillas about Switchfoot's latest record, and what their music is all about.

Next, a video of Switchfoot performing "Dare You to Move" last night in Edmonton:

Here's a recent interview with celloist Keith Tutt, II, who has been involved in many great moments in Switchfoot's recent years. Thanks Doug, for sending this in!

Keith Tutt, II: So lets make this interactive.! Im opening the floor.. Does any one have questions for me?... musical or whatever.

Doug Murphy: I have a question Keith. What songs on Hello Hurricane did you play on, and what was that like?

Keith Tutt, II: It was a one day session.. for about uhhh, 9hrs I was hanging out with the guys. It was fun to hear the new stuff.. but it was work too. Not to many breaks. I played on Free, Always, Sing it Out, the end of Red Eyes aaaannd tried some other stuff on a few other songs. not sure if it made it on though, i haven't listened to it that closely. All and all it was FUN.

NOTE: GREAT JOB on the RadioU voting yesterday! We destroyed the competition; keep up the pressure, and keep on supporint "Mess of Me!" It's working!

Please also go here to see a list of stations already playing "Mess of Me" and phone numbers to call in and request the song with!

HERE are some request links you can do online if you can't reach a phone. Please be SURE to fill out a few of these links every day, especially the ones at or near your area! It is our collective efforts that will ensure the success of this and any future Switchfoot single.

As such, I'll be posting the request links still every day, just to have them available. But please request with discretion. Thanks everyone! Also, all the station links posted below are guaranteed to have played the song at least once.
